Councilwoman Venita Woodfaulk found herself outnumbered Monday night when she expressed her desire to appoint non-city-affiliated individuals to a hiring team that would screen applicants for the soon-to-be vacant city manager position.
“I don’t believe we need to stay in-house with this. You don’t think that there is someone in the community who would have (human resource/ HR) skills? The person we hire (as city manager) is going to be working with the community. I believe we need to go out to the public and get people for this committee, and not get people affiliated with this (the city),” Woodfaulk said.
