Dorothy Virginia Jolley, 87, died May 17, 2018, in Madison County Hospital in Madison. She was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Perry, to Walter Earl Shiver and Pearl Woodcock Shiver.
Dorothy loved crafts, fishing, flower gardening, bird watching and anything to do with the outdoors. She retired after 20 years from the Taylor County school system as head custodian.
Dorothy was preceded in death by: her husband, James Curtis Jolley; her parents, Walter and Pearl Shiver; two sons, James Arthur Jolley and Andy Curtis Jolley; three brothers, Earl, Bobbie and Franklin Shiver; and three sisters, Earline Koslowski, Margie Horton and Francis Page.
She is survived by: her daughter, Patricia Dian Cook; her son, Willie Joe Jolley (Julie); her daughter, Angela Virginia Amon; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Earnestine Carlton and Christine Hill; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, at 3 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Rev. Robbie Austin officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 2:30-3 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, with the immediate family members meeting at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
