The Perry City Council did a complete about face Tuesday night, dropping the idea of appointing a team to pre-screen city manager applicants, and opting instead to handle the entire process itself.
“I feel it’s our responsibility. We’re the ones being paid to do this. If it takes extra days, then that’s what we do. I feel the council should do all of it. I’m experienced doing this type of work. I don’t think we are going to get that many applications,” Councilwoman Shirlie Hampton said when the council took up discussions on how to handle the hiring process.
