Even before the first named storm of the year arrived prior to the actual start of the official hurricane season, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center was forecasting a 75-percent chance that the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season will be near or above normal.
Taylor County missed the full brunt of Subtropical Storm Alberto over the holiday weekend, but did receive large amounts of rain and some higher-than-normal tides along the coast.
