Murder suspect seeks to withdraw plea deal

Dressed in an orange jumpsuit nearly too large for his slight frame, and wearing handcuffs around his wrists and ankles, Douglas Mihal appeared before Circuit Court Judge Greg Parker again on Monday — this time asking for a second chance at sentencing.

In 2016, Mihal and co-defendant Oriana Forsythe were arrested and charged with the premeditated murder of Steinhatchee resident Aaron Tappe — a charge that carried a life sentence if found guilty.
