Sheriff to run Emergency Management

County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to turn over administration of Taylor County Emergency Management (TCEM) to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and Sheriff Wayne Padgett.

The transition will not be immediate, as both sides work to craft an interlocal agreement detailing the new arrangement. Several major details remain uncertain, including who will ultimately hold the title of Taylor County Emergency Management Director — a position required by Florida Statutes.
