At their June 19 meeting, county commissioners voted unanimously to reduce the salary for the recently-created Community Services Director position, after learning County Administrator Ted Lakey failed to follow board policy by not seeking board approval before establishing a salary range for the new position.
In addition to voting to lower the position’s starting salary from $48,686 to the $42,000 amount commissioners approved on May 7, several board members raised the possibility of no longer funding the position during upcoming budget discussions.
