A Taylor County Grand Jury handed down first-degree murder indictments (while armed) against three suspects late Thursday for the Jan. 24 slaying of Perry resident Kashawn Davis, 27.
Marcques McGee, 32, and Henry Bolden Jr., 32, were both arrested within minutes of the warrants being issued, Perry Police Department (PPD) Chief Jamie Cruse said Friday.
The third suspect, 22-year-old Jarnell Coverson, is currently in jail in Columbus, Ga., awaiting extradition back to Florida. (Coverson was arrested May 30 in Georgia on armed carjacking charges related to an incident that occurred in Perry several months ago; he also has local charges pending in Georgia.)
Davis was murdered on Jan. 24, 2018, near the intersection of West Buckhalter Way and Wilder Street. A firearm was used during the murder, resulting in the victim receiving gunshot injuries, Cruse said.
“The victim was also struck by a vehicle during the commission of this horrible crime,” he said.
Anyone with information related to the murder is asked to contact PPD Det. Ray Kellerman or Chief Det. Lt. Lin Gray at (850) 584-5121.
