Ava Lee Poppell

Ava Lee Poppell, 93, died July 1, 2018, in Perry. Ava was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Lake Bird, to Ira Williams and Nellie Henderson Williams.

Ava was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Burton Baptist Church. Ava was a homemaker, spending her life dedicated to her son, grandson and loving husband. She loved painting and flowers.

Ava was preceded in death by: her parents, Ira Williams and Nellie Henderson Williams; and her son, Gary.

Ava is survived by: her husband of 72 years, Walter Douglas Poppell; her sister, Elaine Russell; her daughter-in-law, Ginny Poppell; her grandson, James (Tammy) Poppell; her great-grandchildren, Remi and Case; her grandson, Matt Brown (Kristina); her great-grandchildren, Autumn and Cayden; her granddaughter, Suzannah Ray (Chris); and great-grandchild, Harli; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Big Bend Hospice in Perry.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 3, at 9 a.m., at Pisgah Cemetery with Bro. Ben Kimmell officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
