Winifred June Carter

Winifred June Carter, 85, died July 4, 2018, in Perry. June was born Jan. 28, 1933, in Frostproof, to Hiddon Strickland and Lula Buchannan Strickland.

June was of the Baptist faith. She owned and operated Carter’s Grocery with her husband for 28 years. She liked to sew, was very good seamstress and, in her spare time, liked to read.

June was preceded in death by: her husband, R.L. Carter; her parents, Hiddon Strickland and Lula Strickland; her brothers, R.V. Strickland, Samuel Strickland and James C. “J.C.” Strickland; and her sisters, Margaret Markize, Mary Ruth Cokinos and Mattelen Thames.

June is survived by: her daughter, Tammy Lloyd and son-in-law, David Allen Lloyd; and her sister Glenda Tomlinson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, good neighbors and friends.

Graveside services will be held today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Bro. Danny Lundy officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
