County commissioners voted 5-0 to move forward with construction of a new Taylor County Public Works Department office building at their June 19 meeting by approving a contract with Phifer Industries of Jacksonville.
In addition to approving the contract with Phifer Industries — which submitted the lone bid to construct the 2,000 square foot metal building — commissioners attempted to clarify the $195,376 bid amount was not necessarily over the $100,000 budgeted for the project.
