More than 94 acres of timber are being logged at Perry-Foley Airport to clear airspace obstructions and make room for a possible solar farm on the property.
However, the decision to award the bid to H.B. Tuten Logging was not without controversy, as Commissioner Malcolm Page objected to the fact the county did not conduct an appraisal on the value of the timber prior to advertising for bids. Page ultimately voted against accepting the bid, but the measure passed 4-1.
