    TCSO asking for $331,000

    Posted on July 20, 2018

Among the many financial questions facing the Taylor County Commission as it wrestles with the county’s 2018-19 budget is whether or not to pay upwards of $331,000 to bring health insurance coverage (and premiums) for Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) personnel in line with all other county employees.

The county has been working toward integrating the TCSO into its insurance policy since the Sheriff’s Office switched back to the county’s insurance carrier last October. The county was expecting to combine policies in the next year or two, but TCSO officials are asking commissioners pull the trigger this year – a move that would benefit many TCSO employees, but also cost taxpayers an estimated $100,000.
