DMH asbestos removal bid: $572,248

Based on bids received this week by the Taylor County Commission, it will cost taxpayers more than half a million dollars to remove asbestos from the former Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH) building on Ash Street.

Three firms — Lang Environmental, Inc., of Tampa, EHG, LLC, of Tampa and Peace of Mind Environmental, Inc., of Orlando — responded to the county’s solicitation for bids to remove the asbestos from both the main two-story building, the one-story support structure behind it, as well as the demolition and removal of the support structure.
