Jackie Samuel Riley Holden

Jackie Samuel Riley Holden, 84, died July 20, 2018, in Perry. Jackie was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Shady Grove, to Charlie Holden and Mariah Brannen Holden.

Jackie honorably served our country in the United States Army. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He worked with White Construction building roads for over 35 years. When he was able, he enjoyed working in his garden, giving away vegetables or inviting you over to pick them yourself. He would make his ride every day to be sure nothing had changed from the day before.

Jackie was preceded in death by: his wife, Leta Holden; his parents, Charlie Holden and Mariah Holden; his brother, Jay Holden; and his sister, Rosalie Platt.

Jackie is survived by: his son, Charles Holden; his stepson, Larry Leggett; his sister, Sara Hudson; his nieces, Jacqueline Matthews and Linda McLelland; and his boss, Wendy Slaughter (Steve); as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, July 22, at 4 p.m. at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Gary Blanton officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
