The Taylor County School Board is scheduled to vote on its 2018-19 budget next week, and while the school district currently has ample reserves, it may have to spend as much as $500,000 of those funds to cover expenses for the upcoming school year.
The school board approved its tentative budget Tuesday evening after listening to an overview from District Finance Director Ashley Valentine, who warned the board that while the district is projected to meet its reserve goals in 2018-19, cuts may be needed to do the same in 2019-20.
