Sometimes a director and an actor will find a productive working relationship, and they keep coming back to each other, such as director Peter Berg and actor Mark Wahlberg, who have worked together on three films based on real-life events: “Lone Survivor,” “Deepwater Horizon” and “Patriots Day.”
Now they’re back with their first fiction story in “Mile 22,” a film that isn’t as good as their previous efforts, and suffers from an uneven script, flat characters and an editing job that unfortunately makes it quite difficult to follow the action in a lot of the scenes.
That being said, the film still finds a way to work well enough if you’re in the mood for a very R-rated military thriller.
