    City council questions extra paving

    While it may be legal, the City of Perry’s decision to pave beyond the normal boundaries of a city street may give “the appearance of something illegal and unethical” to the general public.

    Those were the sentiments expressed by Perry City Council members Venita Woodfaulk and Shirlie Hampton following the completion of a city paving project that appears to benefit outgoing Mayor David Sullivan.

    PHOTOS: City council members Venita Woodfaulk and Shirlie Hampton said they would have voted against a paving project in front of fellow council member David Sullivan’s business if they had realized how close the city right-of-way was to his property line. “I’m not accusing you of doing anything wrong. It’s a matter of how it looks,” Woodfaulk said.
