Taylor County Supervisor of Elections Dana Southerland has been named indirectly in a federal lawsuit filed earlier this month seeking to force elections offices in 32 counties, including Taylor, to offer bilingual voting materials and provide Spanish-speaking staff in time for November’s general election.
The plaintiffs are seeking to get the suit, which was filed Aug. 16, certified as a class-action lawsuit on behalf of Spanish-speaking Puerto Ricans who reside and are eligible to vote in the 32 counties.
