Tax exemption criteria reviewed

County commissioners say they need to review the criteria in their own ordinance to ensure all requirements are being met before granting property tax exemptions for new and expanding businesses.

In the Aug. 28 Primary election, local voters overwhelmingly supported renewal of Taylor County’s main economic development tool – voting 2,622 to 1,461 (64%) in favor of extending an “Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemption” referendum for another 10 years.
