Gary D. Horton, 70, died Sept. 29, 2018, in Perry. Gary was born Aug. 12, 1948, in Perry to James B. Horton and Jewel Hendry Horton.
Gary honorably served our country in the United States Army. He was of the Methodist faith and attended Lake Bird United Methodist Church. Gary was an excellent carpenter throughout most of his life, he also worked with the railroad for several years and at Sportcraft for several years. He was an avid outdoorsmen who liked to hunt and loved to fish. Gary loved his family get togethers and Sunday dinners.
Gary was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Lee Horton; his father, James B. Horton; his brother, Larry; and his nephew, Brett Carlton.
He is survived by: his mother, Jewel Horton; his son, Nick (Casey) Anderson; his sisters, Faye (Jack) Jackson and Brenda (Leland) Carlton; five grandchildren, Derek, Troy and Brianna Anderson and Garrett and Blake Clark; and his nieces, Lisa (Tim) Noles and family and LeNan (C.J.) Mendez and family.
Gary leaves behind his beloved dog that was his friend and companion.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. at Lake Bird Methodist Church with Pastor Wallace Holmes and Pastor Billy Gipson officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Lake Bird Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
