‘The Long Goodbye’ will turn a dream into reality

For Taylor County native Anthony Lamarr White, it has been a dream to have his play “The Long Goodbye” performed at the Monticello Opera House. Not only is the play set in the town of Monticello, but the Opera House is the setting of several its scenes. This November, that dream will become reality thanks to a partnership between the Monticello Opera House and Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) Essential Theatre.

FAMU will host a staged reading of “The Long Goodbye” on Nov. 2-3, followed by a full stage production — featuring the same cast — at the Opera House on Nov. 30 through Dec. 9. Both the staged reading and the stage production will be directed by FAMU Assistant Professor Evelyn Tyler.
