    Karen Marie Allen

    Karen Marie Allen, 62, died Oct. 5, 2018, in Tallahassee, following an extended illness. She was born Aug. 11, 1956, in Port St. Joe to James Walter Johnson and Shelby Jean Sanders Johnson.

    Karen attended and graduated from Plant City High School and received her A.A. degree from Hillsborough Community College. She honorably served our country in the United States Army and worked for a number of years as a cook at the Huddle House in Perry. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Turkey Creek First Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and her greatest joy was being “Memaw” to her granddaughter, Alexis. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and needlework.

    She was preceded in death by: her father, James Johnson; her sister, Sheila Wilkerson; and two brother-in-laws, Ralph Foreman and Donald Wilkerson.

    She is survived by: her mother, Shelby Jean Johnson of Plant City; her daughter, Kelly Maher, and husband, Jason, of Higganum, Conn.; her son, Shannon Neel, and wife, Elaine, of Perry; one brother, Robert Johnson of Plant City; one sister, Connie Foreman of Perry; her granddaughter, Alexis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Bro. Billy Gipson officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
