Janis Coleene Dickert, 90, died Oct. 8, 2018, in Perry. Coleene was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Perry to Cecil Shealy and Nannie Ross Shealy.
Coleene was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Perry. She was a homemaker and an avid Gator fan. She lettered in basketball and played the clarinet in the band with Taylor County High School. She loved her family and friends, and loved to get together for cookouts, dining, dancing and having fun; she was the life of the party.
Coleene was preceded in death by: her husband, Jerry Dickert; her parents, Cecil Shealy and Nannie Ross Shealy; two brothers, Cecil and Cleo; and one sister, Berneese Brown.
She is survived by: her children, Paul (Laura) Dickert and Mark (Lori) Dickert; five grandchildren, Erin, Adam, Ray, Haile and Dylan; four great-grandsons, Cole, Mason, Luke and Tripp; as a well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry with Bro. Steve McHargue and Bro. Gary French officiating. Entombment services will follow immediately afterwards in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday,Oct. 13, at First Baptist Church of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
