Man beats girlfriend, spits in officer’s face

A 35-year-old Gainesville man with a history of domestic violence remains in jail here on a $210,000 bond after allegedly beating and attempting to strangle his girlfriend during an attack that happened at a local motel.

Jeffery Scott Van Nocker is also being held on charges out of Alachua County for allegedly attempting to run over a law enforcement officer there with a vehicle.
