Dora Gail Harris, 70, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 in Tallahassee, after an extended illness.
Gail was a Christian, the best sister, sweetest aunt and person one could ever meet. The eldest of six, Gail was born in Waycross, Ga., on June 25, 1948, to David and Doris Harris. She was a long time resident of Perry and a graduate of Taylor County High School. She would go on to retire from the State of Florida, working many years for the Florida Department of Children and Family Services.
Gail loved Jesus, her church and spending time with her large family. She was an avid sports fan and loved her FSU Seminoles and attending the home games for many years. She enjoyed Suduko, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and surprising her family with her quick and often unexpected wit! She was stronger and smarter than she would give her own self credit for and loved by anyone who spent a little time with her.
Gail was preceded in death by: her parents, David E. Harris Sr. and Lou Doris Boatright Harris; and her brother, David Lee Harris.
She is survived by: her sister, Linda (Ray) Williams; her brother, Phillip (Betheny) Harris; and her sister, Angela Sarabia, all of Perry; her brother, David (Yvonne) Harris, Jr. of Madison; 25 nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; a host of cousins; as well as two very special aunts, Aunt Tootsie and Aunt Winnie Of Waycross, Ga.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
