Derek Levy Parks

Derek Levy Parks, 32, died Sept. 14, 2018, in Tallahassee. Derek was born March 5, 1986, in Madison to Terry Levy Parks and Sherry Mims Brown.

Derek honorably served our country in the United States Army from December of 2004 through May of 2006. Derek was of the Baptist faith and attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee. Derek worked with Desloge Home Oxygen and Medical Equipment for two years.

Derek was preceded in death by: his grandmothers, Ellen Mims and Arlene Brown.

Derek is survived by: his parents, Gordon and Sherry Brown and Terry and Kim Parks; his grandparents, Marvin and Thelma Henry; his sisters, Kesha (Leon) Herring, Kacy (Logan) Padgett; his brother, Ty Parks; five nephews; one niece; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Kacy Padgett officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Pisgah Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
