Tallahassee shooting victim has local ties

Maura Binkley, a 21-year-old Florida State University (FSU) senior with family ties to Perry, was one of two people killed by a gunman who opened fire in a Tallahassee yoga studio Friday afternoon, injuring seven people before killing himself.

Binkley is the daughter of Margaret Wight Binkley and the granddaughter of Perry native and longtime Taylor County educator Ann Faircloth Wight, the sister of Perry businessman Frank “Bump” Faircloth. Brian Faircloth of Perry and Leigh Faircloth of Tampa are Binkley’s second cousins.
