State health department officials are advising local residents to take additional precautions to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes after confirming that an unidentified local resident is Florida’s most recent human case of West Nile virus (WNV) here on Friday.
The Florida Department of Health in Taylor County (DOH-Taylor) could not release the name of the victim or exact location due to federal healthcare privacy regulations, but did advise residents “there has been an increase in mosquito-borne disease activity in areas of Taylor County.”
