    James “Jim” Moreland

    James “Jim” Mark Moreland, 65, died Nov. 6, 2018, at his home in Perry, with his wife, brother, Mike Moreland, and family by his side. Jim was born Oct. 21, 1953, in Tulsa, Okla., to the Rev. Howard Leon Moreland and Emma Elizabeth Comer Moreland.

    Jim honorably and proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. Jim was of the Assembly of God faith, and a member of Pentecostals of Perry. Jim loved the Lord with all of his heart and often testified to others about his faith. Jim was an avid fisherman and well known in the area as a duck hunter and dog trainer. He loved to make people laugh, and was a creative story teller.  

    Jim was preceded in death by: his parents, the Rev. Howard and Emma Moreland; and his sister, Judy Highmiller.

    He is survived by: his wife of 5 years, Claudette Cruse Moreland; two children, Jason Moreland and Jenny Moreland Grigsby; his stepsons, Jamie, Brian and Corey Cruse; his sisters, Marva Hatch and Lynette Pebernat; his brother, Mike Moreland; two grandsons, Sawyer and Gus Grigsby; and many other grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    A graveside service will be held Friday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. at Pisgah Cemetery with Bro. John Johns  officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
