Taylor County is expected to receive a total of $16.7 million as its portion of administrative fines and civil penalties levied against BP and others after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010.

The allocations, separated into different “pots,” are based on the federal RESTORE Act, passed by the U.S. Congress to create a framework through which the funds would be distributed to federal, state and local agencies.
