Toddler ‘critical’ after being hit by SUV

A two-year-old girl “is stabilized and improving” at Shands Hospital in Gainesville after being accidently backed over Wednesday afternoon by a vehicle driven by her mother, Tessa Arellano, 24.

The incident happened at the family’s home on Cairo Parker Road at 4:45 p.m. The toddler, deemed to be in critical condition, was transported to Shands from Doctors’ Memorial Hospital.
