    J.C. Connell

    Mr. J.C. Connell, 78, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018. He was born Aug. 18, 1940 in Perry to Ivy and Ellie Ellison Connell.

    Mr. Connell was a resident of DeFuniak Springs. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He owned and operated Badcock Home Furnishings Store for over 28 years before retiring. He also worked as an insurance agent for Peninsular Life Insurance for 18 years. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and traveling. He was a founding member of the Elks Lodge in DeFuniak Springs.

    Mr. Connell was preceded in death by: his parents; his son, Ronnie Connell; his brother, Junior Dean Connell; and his sister, Louise Hansen.

    Mr. Connell is survived by: his loving wife of  60 years, Mary Helen Connell of DeFuniak Springs; his son, Clint Connell and wife, Pepper, of Warm Springs, Ga.; two brothers, Gene Connell and wife, Mary, and Wayne Connell and wife, Kathy, all of Perry; his sisters, Yonna Pitts of Perry, and Wanda Kemp and husband, Don, of Crawfordville; his sister-in-law, Barbara Connell of Goose Creek, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Vicci Connell of Warm Springs, Ga. and Hunter Jonus and husband, Jasen, of LaGrange, Ga.

    A time of visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 6-8 p.m. at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

    Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 3, at Magnolia Cemetery, with Reverend Joel Glenn officiating.

    Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice at 200 Grand Blvd, Suite 205A, Miramar Beach, Florida 32550 or to your favorite charity.

    Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
