The Taylor County School Board has approved a recommendation from Superintendent Paul Dyal to re-classify Steinhatchee School as a K-5 (kindergarten through fifth grade) facility.
The change cuts the school’s middle school classes, which serve grades six, seven and eight. Dyal’s recommendation included the provision of having those students transported to Taylor County Middle School for instruction.
The action was taken during a special noon meeting held Friday, June 28; it passed with a 4-1 vote with School Board Member Danny Glover objecting.
