Janie Ruth Padgett

Mrs. Janie Ruth Padgett, 89, passed away on Jan. 12, 2019, in Mayo.

Janie was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Perry to Perry Randolph Ward and Estelle Sheffield Ward.

Janie was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served in various roles.

She was preceded in death by: her parents Perry and Estelle Ward; her brother, Donald; sisters, Koot and Susie; son, Randy; and her husband, Doyle.

She is survived by: her daughter Ruth Ann (Ray) Whitfield; daughter-in-law, Dianne Padgett; grandchildren, Curt and Drew Whitfield, and Josh Padgett and five great-grandchildren as a well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Curt Whitfield and the Rev. Ron Blair officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterward in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m., fat the church.

All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
