    Crime rate rose 7.6% in 2017

    According to Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s (FDLE) uniform crime report, Taylor County’s crime rate rose 7.6% in 2017, ranking the county 53rd out of 67 Florida counties, although the local case clearance rate nearly doubled the state average.

    The local crime rate – based on the number of offenses committed per 100,000 people in the city and county combined – has now increased for three straight years and four times in the past five years — translating into a 74% increase since 2013.
