Lucky driver

The driver of a truck that hit a power pole on Old Dixie Highway and snapped it off at the base Monday afternoon escaped with no injuries.

Five small fires were burning and live power lines were tangled on the passenger’s side of the truck when first responders arrived at the scene.

PHOTO: The crash caused power outages to homes and businesses in the area. Crews from Duke Energy were on the scene in less than half an hour and were hard at work restoring power (above).
