A special election will be held in June to fill the seat left vacant by former State Representative Halsey Beshears, who was appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to serve as the new secretary of Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
The June 18 special election date means Taylor County, and many of the Panhandle counties in Florida House District 7 devastated by Hurricane Michael, will be without direct representation during the upcoming 2019 legislative session scheduled to run from March 5 to May 3.
