A local inmate was charged with three additional felonies Saturday when he was caught attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into the Taylor County Jail after being temporarily released to attend a “celebration of life” for his four-year-old granddaughter.
According to a Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) arrest report, Charles William “Gator” Jackson, 51, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and introducing contraband into a detention facility – a total of three felony charges – after the jail’s new full-body scanner detected two packages inside his body as he was being re-booked into the facility.
