William McCoy Green Jr. 75, passed away on January 3, 2019, in Perry, Florida. William was born March 14, 1943, in Pensacola, Florida, to William McCoy Green Sr. and Clifford Floreca (Reca) Carlton Green.
William was known as Bill by his family, many friends and associates. Bill honorably served our country in the United States Navy where he served two tours during the Vietnam War. Bill was of the Christian Faith. Bill attended Florida State University and studied Business Administration. He worked with the Florida Department of Transportation as a maintenance engineer for more than 30 years. Golf was his passion. Bill was a member of the Perry Golf and Country Club for many decades and was affectionately nicknamed “Neighbor” by his friends. Bill faithfully served on the Perry Golf and Country Club Board of Directors for many years – including several years as the President. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his friends when not golfing. Bill was also an avid reader; he could always be found with a good mystery book in his hands.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William McCoy Green Sr. and Clifford Floreca (Reca) Carlton Green.
Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years Kay Green, his two daughters Missy (Scott) Newman, and Chrissy (Garrett) Brock. He is also survived by his two sisters Genie Culberson and Denise Green-Huneke, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved four grandchildren: Alexis, Matthew, Christian, and Noah.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on February 2, 2019, at 11:00 AM, located at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel at 201 West Main Street in Perry. The family will receive friends directly after at the Holiday Inn conference room in Perry at 601 Everett Way.
