    Lavada Sue Shiver

    Lavada Sue Shiver, 58, passed away Jan. 29, 2019, in Perry. Lavada was born June 21, 1960, in Perry to Robert Gilbert Shiver and Iris Johnson Shiver. She was a lifelong resident of Perry.

    Lavada was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Perry. She Participated in Taylor County Special Olympics for many years, for which she received many ribbons and medals. She also enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles and watching her favorite T.V. shows like Mash and Gun Smoke. Her love for Elvis Presley was apparent from the large collection of memorabilia she acquired in her lifetime.

    Lavada was preceded in death by: her parents, Robert Gilbert Shiver and Iris Johnson Shiver; and her sister, Judy Carolyn Russell.

    She is survived by: her sisters ,Jo Ann and her husband, Glenn Knowles, of Perry, and Melissa and her husband, Gary Nixon, of LaPorte, Texas; two brothers, Robert and his wife, Martelle Shiver, and Ralph Shiver, all of Perry; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 12 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Perry with Rev. Larry Neal and Bro. Billy Gipson officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Lake Bird Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11-12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at First Presbyterian Church of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
