“The Heat” is from director Paul Feig, whose surprise hit “Bridesmaids” proved that women like R-rated comedies just as much as the guys.
This time he tries to recreate his success by taking the breakout star from that movie, Melissa McCarthy (also known as Molly on CBS’s “Mike and Molly”) and teaming her with Sandra Bullock (“The Blind Side”). Like with most buddy cop movies, especially those played for laughs, the more you know about law and order, the less the events here will make sense, but fortunately there are more than enough laughs to help you ignore those pesky problems.
The film is rated R for pervasive language, strong crude content and some violence.
