    Fuel tanker flip causes detours

    Posted on March 8, 2019

A Ware Oil employee prepares to begin pumping fuel out of an overturned tanker that flipped on its side at the intersection of Pisgah Road and Hwy. 19 Wednesday morning. The accident and fuel spill caused traffic to be re-routed for approximately eight hours until fuel could be removed and the tanker could be uprighted. The truck driver was transported to DMH.

U.S. Hwy. 19 motorists were forced to detour around an accident scene and fuel spill for approximately eight hours Wednesday after a tanker truck, fully loaded with 8,000 gallons of fuel, rolled over at the intersection of Hwy. 19 and Pisgah Road, creating a “very stressful” day for local law enforcement and fire officials.

According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper Charles Swindle’s press release, the 2016 Kenworth semi driven by David Patrick, 37, of Bainbridge, Ga. was traveling south on U.S. Hwy. 19 when it attempted to turn left onto Pisgah Road at approximately 9:46 a.m.
