9-pound trout wins tournament

The 18th annual Steinhatchee Community Fishing Tournament was held this past Saturday, with a total of 112 anglers registering to fish Taylor County’s coastline during the prime time of year to catch huge trout.

That is exactly what Gaige Griffis accomplished, as he weighed in a 9-pound monster speckled trout that was by far the largest fish caught in the tournament, not only claiming the first-place cash prize ($700), but also setting a new tournament record that will be hard to beat.
