For the second time in three years, the Taylor County Commission appears poised to reject a proposed fire assessment as an alternative way to fund local fire protection.
The commission held a lengthy workshop on the subject on Tuesday, March 19, listening to a presentation from Government Services Group, the consulting firm hired in 2017 to develop the fire assessment, as well as proposals from Taylor County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton and Taylor County Fire-Rescue Chief Dan Cassell on how the additional funds would be used.
