Wilbur Sidney Overstreet

Mr. Wilbur Sidney Overstreet, 95, of Jena, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019.

Mr. Overstreet was born on January 2, 1924 in Jena, Fla., to Lovett and Dora Overstreet.  He served in the United States Navy during WWII fighting in both the European and South Pacific theaters.  He became a pastor in 1950, ordained through the Pentecostal Holiness Church, and remained a pastor serving various churches throughout Florida.  He was a part of the building of four different churches including Jena Pentecostal Holiness Church and Friendship Chapel, which later became Friendship Chapel Church of God.  He enjoyed cast net fishing

He is survived by son Lovett Overstreet (Alex) of Perry; daughters, Gloria Parker (Wendell) and Glennis Louque (Jim), both of Perry; sisters, Idell Dorsey of Winter Park, Sonja Bennett of Bradenton and Joyce Hudson of Perry; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his wife Gladys Maudell Overstreet, son, Larry Overstreet, parents Lovett and Dora Reed Overstreet and brothers, Warren Overstreet, Herbert Overstreet, Thomas Overstreet, Hal Overstreet and Henry Reed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 3:00 pm at Jena Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Carolyn Oglesby and Bro. James Philmon officiating.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.  A visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday, March 29, 2019, between the hours of 6 and 8 pm.
