County, homeowner face-off over Cedar Island foreclosure

In April 2011, a hearing was held before the Taylor County Code Enforcement hearing officer concerning a house at Cedar Island that neighbors argued constituted a danger to nearby homes due to the condition of the structure’s piling, as well as a number of boats abandoned underneath it.

When the hearing officer found the homeowner was in violation of two elements of Taylor County code, it was doubtful anyone involved would have thought eight years later the case would still be underway – and not likely to be concluded any time soon.
