Toxic cocktail of alcohol, guns, rage robs family of husband, father

    Posted on April 5, 2019

Chris Strickland (center) was described as a family man who loved spending time with his wife, Britney, son Ashton (right) and daughter Kaylee Mae (left)

What began as a Saturday afternoon of friends hanging out and enjoying some food before heading out for dancing and drinks, escalated into two separate incidents involving guns — including a physical altercation that left one man dead and his longtime friend cleared by a grand jury in what appears to be a self-defense shooting.

After an in-depth review of an extensive 92-page death investigation report compiled by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), it appears a fatal cocktail of alcohol, testosterone and handguns culminated in the Jan. 20 early-morning shooting death of 34-year-old Christopher Strickland by his longtime friend, gym workout partner and co-worker Justin Becerra, 26.
