Alta Louise Sturdivant,
79, passed away on April 9, 2019 in Tallahassee. Alta was born July 7, 1939 in
Jacksonville to Harry Adams and Clara Mae Salis Adams.
Alta was of the Baptist faith and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Alta was
a faithful homemaker, providing for her husband and taking care of her children
and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, going out to eat
and doing a little shopping. She also enjoyed reading and working in her yard.
Alta was preceded in death by: her parents, Harry Adams and Clara Mae Adams;
her son, Kurk Sturdivant; and her brothers, Harry Adams, Jr., Henry P. Adams
and Hayward Richard Adams.
Alta is survived by: her husband of 62 years, Roy Sturdivant; her daughters,
Julie Nigh, Janet Bolen (Steve), Donna Smith (Steve), KC Sikes (Troy); her
brothers, Howard Adams and Doodle Adams; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren;
as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, April 14, at 3 p.m. at Mt.
Carmel Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Gipson officiating. A family inurnment
will take place at Pineview Memorial Cemetery in the columbarium niche at a
later date. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of
Perry.
