    Cleo Ivey “Uncle Big Jim”

    Cleo Ivey, 90, died April 16, 2019, at Kindred Hospital North Florida, Green Cove Springs.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home in Perry, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.

    Cleo was born in Coolidge, Ga., on May 14, 1928 to his parents Titum and Grace Ivey. He was baptized at an early age at Silver Hill Missionary Church in Coolidge, Ga. He was a police officer in Baltimore, Md. and was also a painter. He loved God, his family, friends, and was affectionately called “Uncle Big Jim” by his nieces and nephews. He moved to Perry in 2008 to live with his devoted sister, Evelyna Jenkins.

    He is survived by: one daughter, Lisa Ivey of Baltimore, Md.; his sister, Evelyna Jenkins of Perry; his sister-in-law, Arplee Ivey of Coolidge, Ga.; 14 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews; as well as his close friend, M. L. “Lowe” Redding.

    He was predeceased by: his parents; three brothers, Johnny Ivey, Jim l. Ivey, and twin brother, Theo Ivey SR.
